Hotel taxes in Goa
Some time back there was a discussion on IM about the different rates of taxation on hotel rooms in various states.
The Goa government has recently brought in some changes in the luxury tax which is levied on hotel rooms depending on their daily tariff. Hotels whose tariff is less than Rs 200 per day will be exempted from payment of luxury tax. Upto Rs 1000, 5 per cent tax will be levied. Hotel rooms from Rs 1001 to Rs 3000, 8 per cent luxury tax applicable. Exceeding Rs 3000, the luxury tax will be 10 per cent. Hotels under timesharing agreement or package deal agreement will be charged 5 per cent tariff rate. |
