Hotel Margao

We'll be arriving late in Margao and want to stay one night before heading for Palolem. Does anyone know a reasonable hotel - preferably with an email?

Thanks

I have never stayed Woodlands but have gone to eat at their restaurants many a time. It serves good food. You can also try Tourist Hotel Madgaon Residency (Govt. Owned) which is near Woodland hotel http://www.goatourism.org/About_Goa/goa_intro.htm

Ok I think this is the right thread to dig out some latest information about Hotels in Madgaon.

Brother with his partner shall be in Goa for a marriage in Madgaon from 22nd to 24/25th December. Any suggestions on any decent hotels around. A little outskirts may be fine as they can take a taxi to the city. Last year while briskly passing thru the city I realized how mad mad Madgoan is. So somewhere quieter....I see Colva and Benaulim are the nearest beaches. Any beach hotel recommendations suitable for a couple? Budget? ummm....say an upper limit of around 1500Rs per night. Oh.. and I hope they are not too late to get a room in this area during that time.

BTW How far is the city center from the beaches. Using Google earth I have estimated it to be around 6KM. Is it?

I also stayed at La Flor two years ago - they had a room when all of Goa was booked solid as it was around New Year. As CH said: nothing special, but clean and quiet.

You may have some work ahead trying to book for Christmas...

Benaulim has a couple of beach hugging accomodations.
One is O palmar beach resort (hope i remember the name correctly) it's very budget types & has only basic rooms with attached bath. There is one more hotel opp. this. It has more facilities & Ac rooms with TV also. I don't remeber it's name. But It's peak season so rates might be jacked up. Also getting a room might be a problem.

Your are right about the distance between Madgaon & Benaulim.

Owing to this late booking stunt there are very limited choices but since his is the first time in Goa may be some beach side wud be nice than in the city.

Ok....I think he is flexible on his budget, stretching to a couple of thousands per night. The one I(an always low-budget traveler ) have put above won't put a first-timer in a cozy place for a couple of nights.

A stupid question... how are such mid budget hotels booked? Wud just a phone call guarantee a room when one actually lands at the reception? For high ends we can of course go for online/agent options. Are there any agents out there who can help book such mid-range hotels?

Thanks Ronak for that pointer.I think the name is correct. I see it in this consolidated list I came across.

There starts the phone calls to Goa from tomorrow! Getting a room is indeed going to be a tough 'call' I think...hmmmm

I think this is what I was thinking of. Came across this site while googleing. Looks helpful.

So near Madgaon, here are the two beaches and the mid-range hotels nearby. Making a call to this consultancy should set the ball rolling, I suppose.

Colva Beach
Colmar Beach Resort
Vista De Colva
William's Beach Resort
Colva Condos
Colva Beach Resort
Graciano Cottages
La Ben Resort
Sea Queen Resort
Star Beach Resort

Benaulim Beach
Lotus suites
Carina Beach Resort
Hotel Failaka

Calling up the consultancy, is the right idea since it's peak season. Hope you find a nice accomodation at a decent price.

Yup, Your hopes and Bride's favor....

The bride herself has booked a seemingly nice hotel for these two guys. Some Vinci at Colva...not sure about the name but it is 3K per night with beach view and swimming pool. Hope it treats them well.

Thanks all for the info.
