Hotel Accomodation & Car Hire

Hi All,

My daddy & uncles are coming to GOA on 22nd May - 6:30 AM and returning on 23rd May - 5:10 PM.

Can you suggest some good economic hotel in Panjim ?
Also, any contacts for economic small car hire?

Appreciate your assistance.
Thanks a lot.
Najeeb.

We stayed ten nights at Hotel Fidalgo in central Panjim last year. They charged us around 2 000 RS for a double room. Keep in mind this hotel has undergone a complete renovation during the last years and it is in extremely great condition!

We also stayed a couple of nights at Hotel Nova Goa. A double room was 2 100 RS with breakfast inclusive.

Both hotels are centrally situated in Panjim!

I believe many hotels do offer airport pickup service. Not sure about these two above mentioned hotels since we arranged our own transport. Perhaps email them and ask?

However, if you are not able to find a hotel which offers this service, taxi is easily arranged at Dabolim Airport. Once you are downstairs (exit floor) you will find a taxi stand with fines depending on where you wish to travel.

A quick question:

How is the local transport availability in Goa??
Are taxis easily available to move around in Goa??
If yes, in that case, I may not bother to hire a car !!!

Cheers,
Najeeb

Taxis are very easy to find! But, don't worry about looking for a taxi since they will be looking for you! However, as usual, don't forget to ask and bargain about the price!

Cannot give you an advice whether to hire a car since I have always relied on taxi when wanting to go somewhere. For instance, if you stay at Hotel Fidalgo or Nova Goa, there is a sort of taxi stands outside both hotels. Whenever you leave or come the hotel, they will ask you whether you want a taxi.

When i go back to Goa, i'm going to wear a T Shirt with "My name is not TAXI" printed on it. I have never never had to look for a taxi in Goa,

When we were in Egypt, Sharm el Sheikh, we were asked if we wanted a taxi by. Pick up trucks. Lorries. Vans. Private Cars. In fact i think if it has wheels it will act as a taxi in Sharm el Sheikh.

Bill.

Bill, I agree with you! Almost everywhere you go there is at least one taxi chauffer saying taxi to you!

Thumbs up Goa - Taxi for hire

Hi,
had been with some friends to goa and stayed with a family. The next door neighbour was a cab driver and he drove us all the way from Nerul,Bardez to the border of Maharashtra into my native place which a remote village for Rs 800/ and that was for 6 ppl. That was a one way fare yet most taxi drivers refuse to come one way but this man, Mr Naik was very nice.

You can get in touch with him, he does airport pick up and sightseeing too -

Taxi rates at Dabolim are fixed and destinations are shown with the pre-paid price on a board as you exit Arrivals. These are the cheapest rates you'll find.
