Hostel for Christmas/New Year's?
Hostel for Christmas/New Year's?
Heya, I've decided I want to brave Goa for xmas/new years this year. Arriving around the 20th Dec, departing early Jan (dates flexible).
Ideally I'd want to grab a bed at a backpackers hostel in Anjuna - how feasible is this, and how should I go about making a reservation? I've been told most budget accommodation doesn't do advance bookings, though I've sent a couple of emails out to hostels I could find, but I haven't heard back yet. I've heard that usually for hostels you can just arrive on the day and they'll give you a bed, but that sounds kinda risky for peak season.
Also, how safe are places like this for a solo female backpacker? I want to be able to meet some travel companions, and am worried about landing myself in a place full of male Indian tourists.
Thanks!

Yes, you could find hostel accommodation tricky to find during that week.
Perhaps consider a guesthouse? You can book these online or by email in advance.
Also, if you're concerned about who you'd be staying with, guesthouses tend to be booked by couples and single travellers like us.

Yes, may be you shell out more money as it would be peak season.
Just a suggestion, instead of Anjuna may be you ca think of staying around Morjim, Ashvem or Arambol. There are chances to get good deals than Anjuna even in peak season.
Thanks,

You can try poonam guest house at anjuna . I have been travelling to goa regularly during christmas and new year and have stayed there couple of times . The location is very good .
But every guest house will charge 3-4 times their normal rate esp. From foreign tourists during this period so bargain with them .
You can also try julie jolly hotel at vagator near hilltop . Thier rates are fix and mentioned on their website .
I will also be there on 20th dec. Till christmas. You can always get in touch ...
Cheers

Hey guys!!
I plan to visit Goa post Christmas till Mid of Jan, Dates are flexible. Please suggest me some places to stay. Basically looking for safe, clean & QUIET places. A nice guest house off the main city will do as well.
