To get reservation in hotels of good repute, be it small or big during this period is quite difficult, as the entire Goa will be celebratiing New Year's Eve. I can only wish you a good luck to get accommodation on 31st Dec.

I'm in the same boat as you FoxyEm, as I'm arriving in Goa on 30th Dec and have no accomondation...

I'm gonna be packing a cardboard box so I'll be fine...

No I really don't know what I'm gonna do apart from befriend people who may let me sleep on the floor of their room.

I'm meeting 2 friends out there (one whos been since Oct) but he's still not sure about a place to stay. Oh well. After the 3rd Jan it will be easy to find places but still... plus I'm on a budget so not so great. I just hope the police are friendly to the homeless!

I should be worried but I'm not... cos its Goa, India. A paradise. Probably the best place on earth to be homeless for a couple nights!

I've never been outside the EU Foxy! So quite an adventure lies ahead!

My fiends have both been all over India. We all are into partying also and look forward to following the party trail. I've read that many parties never take off and people run around looking for them for ages to no avail. But when they do go ahead they are truly great.

Its all down to the mood the police is in.

Can't wait!

Course now I have the problem of getting a ticket for the train from Mumbai to Goa!

Karma, you will have to bus it from Mumbai to Goa, in a Volvo or any other delux bus. The train tickets would have been sold out 60 days in advance !

I'm in Goa now and there are plenty of rooms to be had, the tourists have not come in the numbers that where expected.

tour operators charging treble hotels the same, terorist threats all contributed to low numbers.

My guest house was charging Rs2500/night and was MT I paid Rs11000 for a month for a 1 bed flat

thats quite reassuring lez... looks like it'll be the bus then. Any way down there is fine by me, just hoping that the arrival will be relatively early so I'll have time to find the kindness of strangers or a straight up normal room.

5 days to go... woo hoo!
