Help Needed for Family Trip to Goa

Hi Friends,

I need a help from Goa Experts on our proposed trip coming Friday.

I did went through many a posts in "Goa Forum" and got a fair idea. I need some specific answers too.

1) We are reaching Hubli Jn at 6:00 am on 11/27 and Our group composition is Me, My wife& Kid[ 5 years] and My aged parents[ 73 & 63] and my Niece[16 years].

2) we actually booked until Hubli planning to visit Gokarna but that got cancelled and we are planning for Goa.

3) We are not having any specific interests but we would like to stay in Town / City [For the benefit of My parents & kid, I would like to be away from Loud musics Or Beach parties] and I thought of "Madgaon" [Is this ok Or Margoa /Vasco advisable?].

4) I am planning to rent Car for 2 Days and do the trip on our own [With a mix of few beaches & Especially concentrating on Portugese Architecture and just feel the life of Goa without rushing]. Not really interested in party arena.

5) Can somebody advice a Budget hotel in Madgaon [ Our Budget is 1500 Rs / Night for all of us and we prefer a Single Family room with 4 or 5 beds Or 2 Rooms of Max 750 Rs /Night . No beach front Huts/ Shacks]

6) Also Please advice a contact point for getting "Self-Drive" rental car for 2 days preferably Santro Or Indica Or Indigo and the Daily rates.

7)Lastly, any idea on Taxi fare from Hubli to Madgaon.

Thanks in Advance for your help.

Regards
Velu

We stayed in Late October in Hotel Colmar at Colva Beach only a few kms from Madgaon.
Good hotel at only Rs 600 for a double room and Rs 1200 for cottage.
Colva Beach is not noisy but all facilities are available.

Benaulim, just south of Colva and 7 km. from Margao isn't noisy also. It's more laid back and less touristic than Colva.

Hi Velu

I am a regular visitor to Goa and in my opinion you should select Panjim/Panaji and not Margao for your stay.

You mentioned your interest in "Portugese Architecture".
From Panjim you can drive to the famous churches of "Velha/Old Goa" for architecture and history of Goa plus Panjim is the capital of Goa.

Food selection will also be better in Panjim compared to Margoa.

For Beach, Margao is the winner between Margao/Panjim.

Colva beach near Margao is far better than the Miramar beach in Panjim. Of course from Panjim you can drive to the Calangute beach (quite crowded in the evening but less busy
in the morning).
