Help! Can't get through to anyone!

Hi, I'm trying to phone various hotels/guesthouses in Goa and none of the numbers seem to be working. What am I doing wrong??!

I've tried:
Alidia beach cottage: +91 832 227 6835

Gabriel's: +91 832 227 9486

Melodius Waves: +91 832 247 9711

Each one just gives me some Hindi garble and then says in English 'this service is not possible from your phone!'

Any ideas?? Or can anyone suggest me somewhere to stay (and provide contact details), max. 800R-ish per night - pref. Baga or Candolim (or Calangute border). Somewhere not too far off the beaten track. Thanks! I just want to book somewhere for my first night at least as I'll have been travelling for over 24hours and will be wrecked! not a good time to traipse about with my rucksack looking for a place!!

You seem to be dialling ok, so dunno why you cant get through.

If the numbers seem to be correct, then from this automated message it doesn't sound like it's the numbers that are the problem. Is there any reason why you might not be able/permitted to make international calls from the phone line you are using?

No,there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to make these calls. I was on the phone to Pakistan yesterday with no problem. I don't understand!

Have you International Directory enquiries? Sometimes, after all those interminable BT 'press one for...' menus you can find a helpful, knowledgeable person. Sometimes.

Hi Lez. I remember a restaurant called Toto's - not far along from St.Anthony's Chapel (towards Candolim from Calangute). Are you referring to the rooms above it??

hmm 'this service is not possible from your phone!' Which phone are you dialing from a mobile 3, vodafone, t-mobile,BT ? have you tried from another service provider?

I usually get it when i dont have international dialling service on the phone. But you can get through to pakistan.Try calling up the service provider and checking .

yes thats the one i had a look at the rooms basic but clean and at Rs400/500 a night should be ok for a short stay

I have a guesthouse in Candolim which is bang on the beach. Checkout the website www.seapearl.in This is also in the hotel listing on indiamike.
