hi clare,
I'm a regular visitor to Goa, but I haven't stayed in the Calengute area for 20yrs or so, nor would I again, as it has become far too crowded and honky-tonk for my tastes. The '01 S. India LP guide gives coco banana a good rating (spotless, secure, comfortable beds) and list the price at 500 for a double, (850 for christmas/new years). If you haven't been to Goa for a few years and checked out other towns, then perhaps this would be a good base for a few days while you got acclimatized and looked around. For a long stay, I'm sure you could do better, but then I don't really know what your likes and dislikes might be. cheers |

To Clare
-m2- was trying to advise on what people who stay in Goa for 2 months on a low budget are normally looking for. You never said in your question that you had been to Goa before or that you had friends who lived in Calengute. To many people who stay for 2 months, Calengute is too busy, too noisy, too expensive and too much hassle, -m2- was politely trying to warn you of this in case you were not aware. The information given in a question is all the info anybody has to go by.
