I really like Kalinga (sp?) in Candolim (across from the Stone House). It's run by a Goan/Swiss couple. Food is excellent, nice ambience, and reasonable price.
Stone House is also good (regular live blues music if you like that kind of thing) Plantain Leaf in Calangute for excellent, cheap veggie food (and the most fantastic masala dosas). Also another vote for Sauza Lobo in Calangute (try the baby tandoori kingfish - yum!) On the beach: I like Palm & Sands in Candolim, and the beach shack 'Palm Cafe' (between Calangute & Candolim). All Spice in Arpora also good. Gabriel's (between Calangute & Candolim) has good Goan food - though off-season service is extremely slow! |

No body has proposed the name of O Cokero (my spelling is incorrect) on the highway. It is located in a junction where one can go straight to Panjim and right towards Calangute. It is one of the most famous restaurant in Goa. Charles Sobhraj was caught there while eating Garlic Chicken. There is a statue of him in the table where he was sitting. The restaurant was awarded by some famous travellers from all over the world.

The correct spelling is O'Coqueiro and it is located in Porvorim at the junction where the road going to Calangute meets the NH-17 highway going from Panjim to Mapusa. http://www.alcongoa.com/hotel/coqueiro.htm |

The Plantain Leaf in Calangute dishes up amazing vegetarian food.
If you go there please order the Bhindi dish that is cooked with onion and bell peppers and then let me know the name of it so I can find a similar recipie. Delicious.. |

Good Restaurants
Try De mello's shack at Candolim. It serves great food.
Old Mango Tree on Candolim main road is also good. |
