You have only one train from chennai to vasco and that is on a friday.(thus from vasco) I dont see how staying near a station would help. If you are planning to go by train then you have only one day of the week to get out of there.

I would also like to add that panjim has no station. The nearest station is vasco. There is another station Madgoan which is a little further but does not make any difference.

Hey and please type your words fully. Or else no one will understand it

If you want to leave(or even arrive) Goa on any given day then I think your best bet is to leave from Madgoan and travel via mangalore you have many trains leaving daily and from Mangalore to you have quite a few trains leaving to chennai.

You need any more help with train let me know. My friends call me the railways expert. I know almost all train on the konkan railway and uptill surat. Recently I have some need to travel to chennai so by hearted that entire route too

I am planning a trip next august to goa and have shortlisted some hotels. If you mention your budget and the number of people it will be easier for me(and others) to suggest a suitable place to stay.

i think you are really used to the "sms"lingo and thats why the short words right?
if you have a week then my suggestion is do the North and Panjim, if you like Goa on your first visit then you can try out the South the next time!

if your going in October then dont do any bookings! you will have ample accomodation available!

dont look at it that way,you will have to stay in a industiral/business town if thats what you plan to do! take a cab or if you want the real local flavour of the place, then the local bus is the real thing and travel into Panjim!
