Goa- which beach for me
Hiya, I will be doing a backpacking trip to India in July/August for a month and I will be travelling alone. I am a 25 year old woman. I plan to spend at least a week in Goa soaking up some rays on the beach and of course I want to party! Where is the best place in Goa where there are lots of other young backpackers on a budget and liveky nightlife? Any advice will be appreciated. BTW- I will be getting to Goa via rail. Thank you.

Forget about the lively night life during July/August in Goa. You can soak yourself in the lovely monsoon though without the rays on the beach and during this time it is lonely on the beach.
Not a good time for your type of a holiday. |

Best place to chill, party and soak up some rays would be up in Manali at that time of year

dombrag cheers for putting the mockers on my trip :-p Feelthe vibe thanks for your advice- is it far from goa? I know it'll be monsoon but it's the only time I can get there as I have to hang around for my graduation (my parents want the pic!) Anyway I've heard it doesn't rain all day just for an hour or so and then it's gorgeous for the rest of the day- I can live with that I come from Manchester!!!

It is in Himachal Pradesh up in the Himalayas way past Delhi, so yes it is a long way. Never been in the monsoon but I believe it is very sticky and wet, some love it but I would rather go North.
P.S. You think it can rain in Manchester ? caught the back end of monsoon in Goa a few years back.... WOW..... |

A copy of Lonely Planet India will answer a lot of your questions, here and in other threads. You can often check out old editions from the library -- the basic geography and backpacker scene won't change too much from year to year.

debs.Your be bored to tears in Goa in July/August. Watching paint dry would be better. Even most of the locals are not there,as they are travelling .

You will barely see the sun in July/August. Most bars and restaurants are closed. Everything is sheeted in blue plastic. The only thing you'll see on the beach is stray dogs and the sea is very dangerous.
