Goa Travel - Mid February

I plan to visit Goa sometime during the second week of February with my wife. I'm gonna first visit Panjim (probably bussing it upto there, from Bangalore)

I need to know if there any good, recommended places in Panjim, where I can get a bike (in relatively good shape) for o'er a period of 3 days. Also, I plan to stay near Vagator. Is it necessary for me to do any kinda advance booking, or can I just turn up there and expect to find accommodation pretty easily (mid Feb, remember!). Any recommendations?

Your help would be deeply appreciated!!!!!!

Thanks

Hi,

I know of a guys who rents bikes near the petrol pump close to the Vidhan Sabha (Mantralaya) at Goa. I had rented a Hero Honda from him for about 3 days a couple of years ago and had paid around 160/- per day. Having said this - he is not the only option. You have a whole lot of guys who are willing to rent bikes.

A piece of advice though - rent a bike from a place near your hotel. It makes more sense from a logistic angle since otherwise you'll end up going all the way to Panji to return the bike and then return to Vagator by other paid mode of transport.

There are a lots of places to stay in Goa. Feb is the end of peak season and i do not see any difficulty in getting acco impromptu at that time!

Renting bikes is pretty simple in goa. All u need is some basic identity proof. Geared bike would probably cost around 200-250 & gearless 150-200. Infact if u r carrying a small luggage u can rent ur bike before & then look around for good hotels on your bike.

Also stay wont be an issue coz in mid Feb most of the foreign tourists start clearing off & you may get good bargaings. You can try "Shiva place" which overlooks the "mini vagator" beach. Its kinda bamboo hut on the mountain & u can catch hold of an amazing view of the vagator beach from the top. Guess it should cost around 1000-1500 per day.

Hope this info helps...happy vacations!!!

Thanks a lot, guys, for the info!

@Fan of India:
I'm gonna have to use the bus services to and from Bangalore, so Panjim is my only option for the ISBT. So I guess i'll take Mr.cool's advice, and probably first hire a bike and then hunt for acco.
