Yes, very much possible to go to places in Karnataka and Kerala by car with driver included in the price and the only bad thing is that you have to pay for the return trip without using it unless you want to return to your starting point. Would not be cheaper than the train but you get to see a lot more interesting places on the way and you don't have to worry about train bookings and reservations. The roads are not that bad in these two states so it is not a pain in the back when travelling as in the other northern states of India. Lots of places to see and enjoy in Karnataka and Kerala so it will take a long time to reach the south unless you want to just travel down by car which will be pretty expensive compared to the train travel.

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Aadil.

Prices depend on the distance you want to travel as well as how many days and kilometers you are travelling per day. If you are travelling straight to Kochi then it may not be too much as it will be done in a day or so with a rest halt inbetween if you wish. But if you want to go to other places in Karnataka like Hampi, Mysore, etc then it may take you longer to travel as well as for your sightseeing so will be more expenditure on the car as well as driver for his daily night halt allowance of about Rs100 to 150. Prices vary from about Rs4 to 7 per kilometer depending on the car and season. Minimum of 200 or 250 km per day is usually the normal day travel charge so whether you travel that much or not you pay for it. Also keep in mind the last day that you use the car it has to be returned to the originating place so you have to pay for the return journey as well. Unless it is a big car hiring company that you take the car in one place and return it in another city.

Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Aadil.

Options for you

Hi welder

The Best option is take a train to cochin and then Hier a Car. If you Hier a Car from Goa it will be too Coastly. You have to travel in Three states hence when you enter each State you will have to pay interstate permit Charges at check post. So the best option is catch a direct train to Cochin or you can catch a direct train to Mangalore and from there you can catch a bus or a train as sufficient trains and busses are avaliable. The nearest place in Karnataka is Mangalore its the nearest town. You can conatct Vikram Travels or Nirmala Travels these are Reputed regular travel companies.

There are sufficient Indica, Ambasador, A/c or Non A/c Cars, Sumo, Qualis etc avaliable in mangalore

You must take a train from Mudgaon / Vasco to any place in Kerala - either cochin / Trivandum or Allepey.

Why car...u will be wasting a lot of time.

But, if you wish to visit places in between...say in Karnataka state...then, you make to make other plans. Still you can take a train to the places u want to go to.
