Hi all,
Just thought i'l get some inside info on Goa! I am only going to be there for 2 weeks, thought i will make the most of what Goa has to offer. I will be there from 8th Dec till 22nd Dec. I am thinking of booking a short tour to Hampi, any good tour operators you could suggest? Also, in regards to hotels, i have emailed quite a few...but only got one response?! I take it they dont like single travellers or something?! Thank you all. Take care Leon |

My advice re. booking hotels is PHONE.. You can buy cheapo call cards / use SKYPE / use a prefix for cheap dial calls to India etc. It's cheaper than phoning within the UK ! People taking calls will not bite your head off and you'll get an answer ( of some kind at least...
) If you make a reservation, it pays to phone again a couple of times before arriving and hopefully get a 'different' person.. This will enable you to get THEM to check to see if your reservation is noted... However, there are PLENTY of accoms available without booking. Re. travel companies, I wouldn't bother for such a short stay - for Hampi you're really looking at one train and one overnight bus ( if I remember rightly ? ) Just ask around when you get to Goa.. There will be plenty of offers available ! Hampi ( to me at least ) was perfectly interesting, but I found Hampi 'town' a little .. well.. cliché My opinion of course ![]() |

Attention to e-mail is somewhat lacking in many Indian Hotels, some seem to just have an e-mail cause it looks nice on the business card!!
Also many hotels have no facilty for online payment and often get let down with bookings, so they stick to walk in custom!! In early December you'll be able to just turn up and book something you like!! Or you could try phoning your chosen hotel and try to book that way! For Hampi try these people they sem to be quite popular in Goa I see they also have some rooms for rent but it doesn't say where?? Day Tripper |

I got a taxi from Goa to Hampi this time last year, 5 rupee per Km (including petrol) is a good rate to go for. If you only got short time there its a good option, the way we went it worked out to be 500km but we detoured a bit.
