| Goa Secrets Folks, I have just made the massive move from Germany to Goa. It was the best decision I made in my life. I have been here since 7th of June and just loving it. I wanted to share some secrets: - Goa is great in the raining season. The rain comes down in spurts most days. It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO... lovely to sit in with the tiles overhead and read - I have just rented a house. I have stayed in this real secret guest house in Aldona. If u like quiet............this is just great. It belongs to a family that live in the house that is 450 years old. i live in the outhouse. They have 2 rooms with attached baths. It is a b&b....u get invited to the kitchen if you like..........Roberto and Rachel are simply lovely. HIGHLY recommended!! It is called Cancio's House in Aldona. - Staying away from the hard core tourist areas is such a treat. People are friendly, u do not get ripped off like elsewhere - I have donated a wifi so access in your room!!! S |

| hi At Cancios I was paying 800 a night including breakfast. If u hire a car this is expensive but with a bike at 150 u are at the beach in 25 minutes. It is really lovely. The beach belt is a rip off like any tourity place but ofcourse a trendy place to be close to the beach. Stay at Robertos for a bit, get around on a motorbike and then figure it out. But if u want to hang out at bars etc. suggest u find a place in calangute or so. Sorry cannot help with prices but u must bargain and u must clarify everything before u move in: - final price - including taxes ...this is about 12.5% - check security - if u are a woman travelling alone do not talk too freely with drivers and bar tenders like u do in the west...... sorry if I cannot be of much more help Lovish and THea...enjoy goa!! |

Budget accommodation is available in plenty. The trick is that you must get to Goa around the middle of October and hire a place for the entire season. If you hire a place in this manner you can get accommodation for Rs 200/day on average. Of course this is very basic type of accommodation in the Anjuna/Vagator area. You will pay more if you want to stay in Candolim or Baga. | |
