Goa Safe?
Hi Im new to India Mike, I have been a visitor to this site for some months now and I have registered a few weeks ago.
I have asked for some help with the night life in north Goa and some names of good bars/clubs etc but now im getting a bit concerned about how safe the place is...I don’t want to scare anyone or certainly put anyone off going to Goa at all but what extra care should I take when I go there in Feb? Any advice would be most welcome. thanks |

I'm also going there in February. As for safety reasons, I'm not concerned at all about anything, except the typical, helmets while riding motorcycles, don't accept drinks from strangers, etc.
As for clubs, not having been there before, I've heard of a place in north Goa called Tito's. Is it good? I don't know, but a friend who is a decade older than me told me it's great, but then again, he is a decade older than me, so it not might suit a guy like me who is 21.

Yes I also heard that that place was good but I didnt want to say any names of any clubs as I was accused of advertising the club in a previous thread! (sorry again as i am new)
I have heard of a few different places but I am a bit worried as to how safe they are to visit |

Titos is good, so is Mambos which is next door... and not that I am the expert, but I did live in Goa for a month last winter and the previous winters... and at that time, Club Cubana seemed to be the hot spot. Especially on Wednesday nights. I never felt that these clubs were unsafe, just take the usual precautions.

Ya I cant wait to go and see the place.
Thanks for all the advice - seems like common sence to me. Just that with this terrorist threat it best to be extra careful but than again how careful can you be? like the saying goes you could be hit by a bus tomorrow. |

Terror threats fail to scare away visitors to Goa
Panaji, Dec 27: The terror threats whether “real” or otherwise have failed to deter the tourists, both domestic as well as foreign, from visiting Goa, during the peak season of Christmas and their number has remained almost same as the last year. The director of tourism, Mr Sandeep Jacques said that the provisional figures of foreign tourists who arrived by 250 charter flights up to December 25 was 55,094, which was almost similar to the figures of the previous year. He also said a large number of tourists come by road from other states, whose figures would be available by month end. He also said that the number of domestic tourists in December alone is expected to cross last year’s figure of 4.17 lakh adding that the arrival of tourists for the whole year from January to December 2006 would be the same as previous year’s figure of 23 lakh tourists. Hi There,
as for night spots in nth goa, there's one called Club Paradiso in Anjuna area, saturday nights are full on. beware the music is head banging stuff, think its called trans music or something like that, sounds all the same to me. If the music is not your thing, there's allot of activity on the rooftop, you can also take your drinks up there, if your lucky there might be some breeze up there. have a great trip rgds, paul vandy |

Hello anjunaangel, in reply to your question,
I went to club paradiso in early november this year, I went with three party animals from denmark, left as the sun was rising, eventhough the headbanging music was't my thing, I still enjoyed chatting with other travellers from both india & other parts of the world.Met some real interesting & friendly people. What also impressed me was the reasonably low price of drinks at the place, just over AUS$2;00 for a good rum or whiskey with coke, love the old monk rum, there was an entry charge of 300rps, which is fair enough. I reckon Goa would be worth having a look at in the "OFF" season. Rgds & Happy New Year Paul Vandy |
