I was just about to ask the same thing!
It seems we go to the same places (although I'm not such a party animal, my husband is, and if we don't know each other by sight, you probably know my husband who is at most of them). We also hang out at the bars in Chapora, on occasion.
I was in Goa last week, returning to the UK on Thursday, and I was so impressed by a) how lovely it was and b) how many Westerners there were there.
We had dinner at Curlies on S. Anjuna on my last night, and we even got a sunset!

I'm back for another 10 days from August 4th, so hoping that it will still be as lovely then.
So, where do you live?

Nice to have your all your family members living together. Do you guys own one of the hotels in Little Baga? I was pushed into attending one of those hard sell seminars at the Royal Goan Beach club but after listening to their sales pitch I told them I was not interested in their time shares. Too expensive.

Hard time share sellers

I look out of my apartment window and see all the 2 week tourists being given the "gift of the Gab" by the timeshare sellers at the Royal Goan along Baga river,"My god you've won a 2 week vacation" "bottle of wine' etc etc, places are becoming expensive but to spend that much on a 2 week holiday and cant even pick where your staying is stupid.
I'm selling my apartment because it is to big 4 bedrooms with only 2 of us, but unfortunatley the greedy people are getting in on the act and now charging inexcess of 75.000pds for 2/3 bedroomed places, which have yet to be built, but this always happens to popular and nice places.

I agree. Goa has started crawling with all kinds of touts and the price of real estate has started getting out of hand. Those 2-3 bedroom apartments in the Calangute area are not worth more than 20,000 pounds maximum. I bought a beautiful 3 bedroom apartment near Colva for less than that amount this year.

I payed 11 lakhs(13000sterling at the time)for a 2 bed in Betalbatim. A bit over the top but I like the location. I know of 2 developers asking 30000+sterling for 3 bed flats , claiming to finish to English standards. I've seen the work and while it's better than "local" standards it's certainly not up to English finishes. It's the 2/3 weekers who fall in love with Goa who buy these on impulse. That's OK if you don't want to sell it later. If you want to buy then better to spend 6 months having a good nose around.

Well i'm selling my apartment for 36.000gbp but its 4 bedrooms and has a roof terrace which can be built on overlooking the river and salt lakes and has been finished to english standards as we finished it ourselves!! which i think is the only way you can be sure its done right, as you said i have never seen any standards here!!!!!! there are excellent craftsmen here and very talented but not builders/decoraters etc, they are way behide when it comes to that, you can get crown paint and delux but they will still water it down like distemper if you dont watch them, they would rather put 3 coats on than just 1!!!!!!!!!! but i love it here !!
