Goa right now..??
Hello everybody,
I have just flown into Delhi fro Europe 2 days ago and have a flight to Goa tomorrow morning. Thing is, I seem to be getting "you are crazy"-looks from the people I tell this too. Apparently, it is unbearably hot at the moment.. Is anyone down there right now? I actually do not mind a reasonable amount of heat for Indian standards - it s been 40+ in Delhi and I m coping ok - especially if I can nip into the sea once in a while. However, people have been saying that it is the humidity that makes it hard, and that it is uncomparable to Delhi. Is it true? Should I cancel my flight or still go ahead? Another thing I seem to be hearing is that it would be very difficult to go back up once I m in the South, due to the Indian holidays in May. My original plan was to head to Goa, travel my way South to Kerala, maybe Tamil Nadu, then move back north somewhere in late-may early-june. Thanks for your help! |

Humidity makes things difficult. You sweat all the time, even when inside. Unless you are planning to stay in an air-conditioned place, Goa is probably not a good idea.
Taking a train back to north will be hard, unless you book many weeks in advance. But flying back should not be a problem. Around mid June, I presume it wont be all that hard to get train tickets too, but dont take it for granted. |

Yes it will be hot, but not to the point of being unbearable. Sitting in a restaurant on the beach under a roof drinking a cold one will be ok. Even walking on the beach is ok most days. I've been in Goa from Febuary to June at different times and it wasn't too much for me. Though sleeping at night could be hard because of the heat and humidity. If you can afford it, try to get a room with a/c or with a standing fan that you can keep close to you at night when sleeping. You should be able to get a room with a/c for around $10-15 US this time of year in certain places as the season is winding down.

To be honest it's not that bad here at the moment. The humidity is high,so i agree with the above you will definitely need A/C for the nightime. But during the day if you are on the Beach, the breeze keeps it not too bad.

I will be there on Monday and i can't wait to be sweating and drinking cold ones in the scorching sun. Beats being in rainy England anyday.

Im about to book a ticket for a visit in two weeks starting 8/5 for ten days. I'm here in UP country where its been 40+ many times already. So, I'm not worried about the heat. What I look forward to though, is plenty of cold ones, some westerners to talk to and some partying. It sounds like i will be ok?? Where should I head North of Goa, South, or a little of both?

Everything will be shutting down around the time you are going. There will be some places open, very few Westerners mainly domestic tourists. So you probably will be better off in North Goa as there is more choice out of season.

Gauging the distances between GOA Towns
If i have a scooter or bike, can i explore north goa in a day? or two? In that first day or so, I would go check out the different beaches and vibes and then settle somewhere for a longer duration. The LP map doesnt give me a good sense of travel times and if that makes sense.

Well Ouzodave this is my first time in Goa so I have no comparison. By my Greek islands standards, o, there are not too many people in Anjuna. But I could be wrong...

Minni and Ouzo,
As I will be there in a few weeks and I don't know where to go, I look forward to your observations. esp weather, regarding crowds (beach and nighttime), party situation. etc. thanks. I'm jealous you are there and I am not. |

I want to be in Goa on this weekend. Will the hotels and resorts will be open? Is it going to be any difference(except weather) than winter season? Regards |

We're in Palolem
Quite a bit open still, bt just feels like there's space - I'd hate to be here in high season. It's about 34 during the day, but cool at night, we're moving out of aircon tomorrow. We're complete wusses, but are finding it just fine. Plus, there's great food.
Is anything going on in Arambol? |
