Talking Goa: Poking a person in the eye literally!

We have all heard the ancient saying of poking a person in the eye leads to making that person very angry but two British tourists in Palolem seem to have decided to test this in real life.

From GOACOM http://www.goacom.com/joel/news/2006feb/25feb06.htm

Brits fight it out in bar
PANJIM: A previous enmity between two English nationals turned ugly at a bar in Palolem, Canacona, on February 23, where one was assaulted causing injuries to the eye. Keely Wainey complained that Simon Bank, 40, assaulted her without any reason by putting a finger into her left eye causing grievous injuries. (GT)

Eye for an Eye?

"Poking the Eye" This is the first time I am reading this idiom but the idiom "An eye for a eye will make the whole world blind"
is well known.

Biblical; an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Probably Old Testament, but I think it was quoted by Jesus when he talked about turning the other cheek instead, and I'd guess that your example comes from Gandhi?
