Situation for raves does not look good at the moment. The Chief minister has stated that he will not tolerate these parties. As far as guesthouses are concerned you can check out D'mello's.

You would need to know the right people and only being an inside would get you into these parties

I've been in goa for the past two months. As for vagator and anjuna. they are pretty much dead right now. You've got the left over hippies from the 70's who can occasionally be found smoking out at Curlie's. Curlie's is a bar near the end of the anjuna beach. Its quite a walk though. On Saturdays and Wednesdays they have rave parties which have been fairly dead as of late. The only joint thats open consistently these days is Mambo's in Baga. I left a few days ago, and am going back in a week to spend another couple weeks in Anjuna. For a place to stay Anjuna Villa is quite nice, they have a pool and clean rooms. Me and my mate from london stayed there 3 nights. A double bed room without A/C ran us Rs. 500 a night.

Lemme know if anyone has any questions.

As of now, Mambo's in Baga is the only club thats open. The past two months in the off season, Mambo's is the only place that has been consistently decent. The crowd is mostly local men. However, you do get quite a few people travelling through there. Other clubs that are nice include Cubana and paradisio. However, they have been closed the past few months.

Curlie's in Anjuna has rave parties every wednesday and saturday. I was there not last saturday and there was about 35 to 40 people there. Then again, i did get there at 5:00 am or so.

the parties will start up again indefinately, i don't know about the local commissioner or whatever but, curlie's apparently has an arrangement with the local police, so they're not bothered.

It is likely that large outdoor raves will continue to be banned this year; the political situation is quite different from recent years and there is more likelyhood that the interests of the people who live in the communities will be respected a bit more. You might be surprised, but not everyone is thrilled at the prospect of being kept awake all night by loud thumping music that reverberates for many km in all directions.

I have to go along with m2, the scene has changed.
After many years of parties and general mayhem, Goa is slowing down and accepting a new kind of tourism.
The parties will still be held somewhere (though that seems to be increasingly a mainstream clubby thing) and I'm sure the many groovy people wanting to "do their Goa thing" will still be able to find what they want!!
But I no longer think Goa is on the map of destinations where "It's happening"
Seems to me the party scene is tailing off in Goa, Maybe I'm wrong but the heady days of Goa seem to heading into hippy history!!

What do all you "young blades" think, is it still kicking in Goa or has it had it's time!!

for just the room you'll be all right. just make a booking or let someone know in advance. eventually, even when you just arrive at 31st 6pm, you'll find something.!!

trust me

If the answer was for me, then my friend I trust you absolutely. Cross my heart and I hope to die. But lil more detail would inspire my confidence better.
