Goa: package deal worth it?

Is a 3N-4D hotel package deal (with 2 days sightseeing, boatcruise, airport/rail-stn transfers, food) worth it?

A certain hotel is charging Rs.8000 for package Vs Rs.4000 for room-only. I kind of feel, they are overcharging.

Can you give a break up of the following items if doing on my own:
1) Taxi fare from airport/stn
2) sight-seeing trips by taxi (are really 2 days trips required?)
3) Boat-cruise w/dinner
4) Veg Food at decent restaurants

Thanks.

You need to tell us :

1. Name of Hotel.
2. Part of Goa it is in
3. What is being offered in sighseeing ?

and most important of all, date and month, as rates depend on season...

peninsula beach resort on calangute beach:
Rs. 8500 for March-3rd week

Package includes :
* Accommodation for 3 nights/ 4 days on a twin sharing basis
* Transfers (Panjim, Airport, Madgaon, Vasco To & Fro )
* Welcome drink (Non-Alcoholic)
* Meals as per plan (Buffet meals for group of 16 above)
* Two full days sightseeing with River Cruise
* Free use of swimming pool & indoor games
* All applicable taxes included
My question was not hotel specific BTW many others also charging on similar lines.

Any other good hotel (close to the beach) you can suggest?
considering Alor Holiday resort too.
I am travelling with my wife and am looking at a room budget of around 1500 per night.

i think you are being overcharged though it is not a bad plan if you have never been there and need some guidance.... apart from hotel cost.... your airport travel should cost you 300 one way, food is not very expensive and you can eat a lot and very nice food all over the high streets and beaches ... you will not have to stick to same hotel food and actually discover the amazing goan foods from shacks to restaurants..... dunno how much the river cruise costs or sight seeing but i would imagine it would not be more than 200-300 for a cruise and 500 for sight seeing ..... depends how much sight seeing you want to do .... after some time all churches start looking the same to me

i hope you enjoy your trip ..... pick up a lonely planet book .... i use it extensively when i am in goa

Taxis are very expensive..a ride from the Airport or Madgaon to Calangute would be Rs.700-1000 one way..

Boat cruise is Rs.150 per head plus the food you consume on board..

If the price is for a snigle person then it is expensive, however if its for couple then its amazing..

hmm called up the hotel.
Here are the rates:
1) sightseeing north goa - beaches - 8AM to 4PM (300 per couple)
2) sightseeing south goa - temples,churches,boat cruise - 8AM to 8PM (600 per couple)
3) Airport Transfers - 650 per trip.
It seems these sightseeing trips are by bus! Thats why they are cheap.
summing it up ... its a 2300rs value.

I am booking room only. This way i also have flexibility to do something else like water sports. Also i am not sure I really need the sightseeing trip to beaches. I presume i can do that by myself on rented bike.

thanks guys.
