Well the problem for me is that I really don't know yet where in Goa am I going to stay.

I will be looking for a nice New Year Eve party, if possible with fine electronic music. However I don't know where to look for that information before I book my accomodation.

Goa for new years a few days before and after

Hey Irim and anyone else headed down alone to Goa for new years,

I've been to Goa before in 2006 while studying in Bangalore and i went with some friends. I'm headed down there alone this time for New Years. I'm probably going to stay at or near Baga Beach.

Anyone else travelling down to Goa stag this coming New Years? Also, is Baga a good place for New years, or does it really matter which beach?

Thanks

And i've heard prices for hotels/hostels etc go up during december, what is the average price for a okay-ish place with a shower?

Hope your all good!

Hey there, I spent some time chillin in Goa in 06, at Baga Beach. I was studying for half a year in Bangalore and was able to head to Goa for 10 days with some mates and local friends in blore. There are a whole bunch of guesthouses and hostel- like places as u move away from the beaches. Its probably true the prices go up, but if u end up finding other people/females to share with the room cost goes down. We had two guys and two girls (just friends all of us) and it was like 1600 rupees a night (400 a head) at this hostel/guesthouse place just 100 meters from the beach.

I'm headed to Goa myself from the 30th until the 2nd/3rd alone and tryin to also find some other people travellin stag for new years.

hope all is well in your part of the world

I agree it's hard to decide when You've never been before...
I found this map that at least gives one an idea of the distances

http://www.childrenwalkingtall.com/Map-Of-Goa.htm

here's an even better map: http://www.agondabeach.com/goa-map.jpg

I'd be curious to know how easy it is to get to one beach from another... especially at night? live at one beach party at another...

Up near Anjuna, Baga, and Calangute its pretty easy to walk along the beach and hit up the bars/shacks/parties if u can just naviagte through the people. I think its best to get in at least a couple of day in advance, get the feel, and then kind of migrate to where u feel most comfortable...at least thats what i did when i went a couple of years back.

this time im headed alone and i guess thatll be the plan

I was considering PALOLEM, but that seems a little far from all the action!

Irim - you need X minimum posts and a certain qual period to PM.

Others can advise. Goa is friendly and fun, but some are a little greedy - be firm. Go the Skippies!

The biggest challenge appears to be finding an affordable place to stay...
I've been quoted some outrageous prices by even "low budget " places

The "action" if any is concentrated around the Anjuna-Vagator area. Don't go in with high expectations. Large scale parties are a thing of the past, now it is on a smaller scale.

That is the problem of making advance bookings for Christmas and NYE. Go to Goa and you will find something within your budget. If you can't, then I can arrange accommodation in Anjuna or Calangute.

Thanks, I found one place that's reasonable, I'm just not sure if it's a good place/location - It's not listed in the hotels in Calangute, let me know about your suggestions for Anjuna

Tell me the name of this place and I will tell you whether it is in a good location or not.
