Goa October-hiring a car with driver-North Goa- Candolim area

Good morning,
Does anyone have an idea of how much it would cost to hire a car with driver on a daily/weekly basis in North Goa, around Candolim?
Any specific recommendations would be gratefully received.

Regards,

Steve Walker

Depending on your powers of negotiation, taxis can be hired from around 1200-1500rps per day (£15-£20), obviously this depends on where/how far you want to travel. If you find one you are happy with, get his phone number and stick with him, he'll hopefully do you a better deal if he knows you are loyal.

Personally i wouldn't pay that much but then i am also from Yorkshire! As the previous reply states it does of course very much depend on the distance you will be travelling. Beware there are drivers and there are drivers - some taxi drivers are crazy and others are very good. Last season taxi drivers on Candolim to Baga stretch were really struggling for business and i am sure that you will be able to get a good deal. I was there long term last year so hired a car (without driver) but my regular taxi offered his services at Rs800 per day

There has been a sharp increase in the price of petrol last month in Goa and although there has been no offical announcement what the new taxi rates are going to be one should expect an increase as compared to last season.

Taxis would do more business if they turned their meters on. I would use them.

I was told today by a couple of drivers there will be a 5% increase this season. Not too bad to be fair.
