username, most of the others have listed the popular clubs in goa. I would recommend only Club Cubana or Paradiso if you are loooking for a "cool by western standards" club.Tito's and Mambos are "happenning" but tend to draw a significant local crowd.Mainly due to the lower pricing. most of the others are dive bars, but with a more chill attitude.

Goa is all about chlling all day at the beach with your favourite poison. You can't doe that at most US beaches, atleast los angeles for sure does not allow it.

I was in Goa about a week ago, jsut as I left it seemed to be getting a bit busier as the season seems to have just started
Nine Bar has been closed down - was told is openeing in a few days but then was told by someone else it was shut down by the police.
Copa Cobana was rocking (Its somewhere on the way from Bagga to Anjuna)- tho I didnt go inside it was full of people and had big laserlights shining down from the hilltop. Apparently has a pool inside. The cover charge is about 600 rupees but unlimited drinks and food inside.
Mambos at Bagga beach was always packed as well, good mixture of foreigners and locals. They play pretty mainstream music during the night then as it gets later they play a bit more dance music. Spent a few nights there.
A few of the places close early - around 1.30am (Mambo's and Copa Cobana are later) but the shacks on Bagga beach are usually still open and play some pretty good music (usually more trance) and u can still drink and chill out on the beach.
Couldnt find any open air dance parties at all.
If your into more Indian fusion trance type music there was a great shack at Anjuna Market right on the beach (not sure what its called sorry). It was a live band that played from late afternoon into the night - beautiful atmosphere watching the sunset.
Hope this helps, it was my first time to Goa (& India) and I had a ball.

Hi Silver butterfly,
Good to hear you had a good time in Goa!
Hopefully when i return 'Nine Bar' will be open again. Thanks for the info!!
I did go to the Club Cubana last year which was very busy.It was a bit like a european disco for me and i wanted something a little more interesting.
Sorry to hear you didn't experience any of the infamous parties.
Maybe another time?

Last weekend the nightlife in Bagabeach and the shacks was very quiet.
I asked the locals and they said it's not normal during this time of year,
and they said the terrorismthreat has affected the tourism, and fewer people are coming to Goa.

Btw. today I heard they are going to open a new disco or something like that next to Club Cubana.

Cheers from Goa!
