Goa Nazi hoax
Several Indian newspapers fell victim recently to a hoax about the arrest of a supposed Nazi war criminal in Goa.
More details on how the hoax was organized to expose the media is here: The Telegraph coverage is particularly hilarious. I was wondering whether anyone around here was involved in providing the "guttural German accent" the PenPricks folks speak of? ![]() |

Damned funny - but on a more serious side - it shows how little journalistic investigation is in place now (and that's not just India).
Around the world, there is a serious lack of credibility and in-depth research by journalists. Thanks for posting a very funny read. Cheers Zoltan

Loved The Sea Wolves, and after watching that movie it's hard not to believe that the possibility of a 'like discovery' found living in some rustic Portuguese casa in the Goan countryside is not as far-fetched as it may seem.

sensationalism at its best , but to be fair the world famouus bbc can be a little shall we say less than truthful , in the not to distant pass their headline on world was could turkey be facing a turn around to the secular state etc etc as they played it the islamist extremists in the goverment had a real chance of getting voted in , where as in fact they had as much chance of staying dry in the monsoon .
if it looks good go with it seems to be the by word of reporting these days , dont matter if they havent checked the facts |

When I read the article on goacom.com I really wondered about the story, as this investigating institution has no German name at all... ok, sometimes Indian newspaper spell foreign names wrong, but still I can make out the name, but this time... Perus Narkp.... no, sorry.
Now this thread is explaining something.... ![]() |

i have to share this with you. i had actually encountered a disturbing nazi thingie in goa once.
there is a temple called the mangeswari temple somewhere off the coast of goa. above the doors of that temple are painted swastika signs, as is common in many indian temples and homes. while at that temple, i saw a shaven headed white westerner place his camera on a wall on the opposite side of the temple side-gate, set the camera to auto-click then run up to the side-entrance of the temple. till then i had no clue what was happening. then the skinhead raised his right hand in the way skinheads do, and thus had a picture of himself taken in front of a swastika in a land he surely believes his "master-race" ancestors came to many moons ago. i immediately tried to complain to the temple authorities, but it was a sunday and no watchman/guard was present. i tried to explain the incident to the "pundits" present at the temple, but to no avail. they didnt know that a swastika has racist connotations as well. oh well ! |

The ancient hindu, jain, buddhist 'swastika' is a beautiful symbol and far and away different in representative meanings & iconography than the bold, angled, black, red & white 'hakenkreuz' used by the Nazis for a very brief period of time. It takes alot of stretching of a, perhaps, unsettled mind to continue to draw comparisons between these two very different symbols but there are those that who will always try to do so ..... oh well!![]() |

but i wish neo-nazis would do their hail-hitler-ing somewhere else and not in some 1000 year old indian temple. i also wish people in india would be aware of this possiblity.
swastika sign (on temple, house etc) + bald white male = possible mischief |
