Hello! I was all set for this trip to Goa and then I started reading the threads about how it will be Monsoon season! Ohhh well we will have to make the best of it because the flights are already booked. I'll be heading to Goa at the end of August on a Wed-Fri leaving pretty early on a Saturday morning. Will there be any markets open around this time for me to do some shopping? If so let me know where. I'll be staying in Sinquerim. Thanks

If by markets you mean Weds Anjuna and Saturday night market, absolutely not. Local markets will be deluge dependant but I suspect thats not what you are looking for?

If you're interested in Goan handicraft, head towards Aparant in Panjim http://www.ghrssidc.org/ Their stick puppets are absolutely adorable. Seek out the tiny handicraft shop Heirloom in Panjim. Walk around Fontainhas near Panjim and check out ceramic tiles in Goa Velha or Tantra tshirts at the Bombay Store. Pick up Zantyes cashews from any of the scores of cashew shops in Panjim. Remember, that Panjim is absolutely dead on Sundays and siesta hours any day.
