You can get Doxycycline there (every day pill) -- not sure about any others, particularly those with no name.

i'm on doxycycline at the moment and they seem to be fine in terms of side effects etc. we completely forgot about the extra sensitivity to the sunlight though, which means we got a 1 week tan in 2 days

i was chatting to one of the railway doctors on the train from mumbai to thivim and he said that they they are an old drug and were starting to become ineffective down here, but that for now they still worked fine.

Newbie here but lurking for ages! Would be interested in price of doxycycline in Goa. I tolerate it well and have used few times in Goa. Paid about 18p per tab from online pharm in UK. Regular pharm wanted twice the price.

A few years ago (2003), 90-days' worth of Doxycycline cost me less than US$15. I've forgotten what I actually spent on it at some pharmacy at CP in Delhi. The price probably hasn't gone up all that much .. it's an old drug and even very inexpensive here in the US.

Rs5 a cap for doxycycline - but it's worth bringing your own.

Lariam is the once a week type. I don't recommend it generally but if you can handle it fine. Its especially fine because women get much larger share of the psychotic reactions to it. I use Doxy as its dirt cheap in India and id prescribed to me by my sis in law. Its great for us but some women get reactions..

Old-fashioned chloraquine is also a once-a-week job, and is both available and cheap here: Larago-DS.

Should word that differently! Since she apparently doesn't have such side effects, more common among women than men, that particular regime does seem suited to her..

No. My doctor shared the view that one can't go on taking it for ever once you are settled here. What an amazing memory you have!

Stupid question here but is there malaria in Goa ? Thought it was relatively safe there, I've been a few times and never taken tablets, hate putting that stuff in my system, still it's better than getting malaria.
