Goa - looking to rent a beach hut
Hi
I will be going to Goa for a week by myself and I am not sure where I shall be staying over. I fancy spending more time staying in a beach hut around Anjuna and Calangute. Would you know how much it would cost to rent a hut for 1 week this April?
If you have Beach Hut contact details, I would be really grateful.
Thanks

Hi again
I would like to introduce myself as I'm new on this website. I am 28 years old and a profoundly Deaf male from London. I'm planning to travel some parts of India for 6 weeks away from depressing London!!. I will be with 3 Deaf northern pals before going on my own to Goa for the first time in the last week. I am not sure what I should do in Goa, maybe just lying down the beach, chillin', ocassionally clubbing and more likely to have a look around Mapusa, Panaji, Arambol (6th best beaches around the world), Margao and Colva. I am undecided as to which the right place for me to stay is - at a hotel or a beach hut for a week.
I would appreciate for your valuable feedback.
Cheers

For huts -
You could try Gopal's on Asvem beach - he's just done up his huts and they are still bamboo, but now have comfy beds, mossie nets and some have clean attached bathrooms. The beach there is very quiet, and rather idyllic. There is also a very smart French restaurant (open air) next door.

If you want more company around you, try Dunes in Mandrem - also a beautiful beach, but alot more huts, so I guess more company. They put on concerts sometimes too. www.dunesgoa.com, or Riva nearby, which is more expensive, but apparently nicer (I haven't been to this one, so can't say for sure) enquiry@rivaresorts.com.
Or, further up the beach in Arambol there are quite a few huts - I'd say the nicest position would be the ones right by Sweet Lake (a fresh water lake on the beach - it's beautiful!) at the far north end of the beach (around the point - you have to walk along the beach path to get there) - I can't remember their name - can anyone help?
I stayed at Om Ganesh, which have normal rooms, rather than huts. They are just before the Sweet Lake on the path, and the rooms were decent.
For things to do -
In the Anjuna/Chapora/Vagator area There's lots of good bars in the wider area - Anjuna, on the beach (+ the market on Weds - don't know if it will still be on in April?), Vagator has the Nine Bar (the closest thing you'll get to a club in the area - on every night, but closes at 10pm!) & Chapora has lots of grotty but hilarious places literally in the gutter - I ended up here most nights! Hill Top in Vagator has parties sometimes too, but when we were there they got closed down.
I didn't venture south from there (apart from to the Sat night market in Baga, which is hectic, but worth checking out), so can't help you there, but I'm sure someone else can...
I'd recommend getting the Goa Lonely Planet - lots of options there and it's reasonably up to date.
Hope this helps.

Many, many thanks for great feedback.
I just wonder how far is between Mandrem to Anjuna?
I just wonder how far is between Mandrem to Anjuna? You're welcome.
Anjuna - Mandrem > I would allow a little longer if you're on a moped and go on the slower, but prettier coast road. Probably takes about half an hour or maybe a bit more. The main road is a lot faster, but a lot less chilled out!
