If you just want a quiet relaxing time it's ideal. However if you are looking for it to be lively you will be disappointed,as it's still too early for the tourist season.

I was there around the same time last year. Most areas were still pretty empty. Rainy spells too, so remember to carry an umbrella / rainwear.

Goa in October is great. The swimming might be dodgy so take care. Most of the shore side bars and cafes will be open.Forget about raves as they finished years ago.Police are usually quiet too on the money to ride scheme they operate to augament their wages. It will be still in the monsoon period so take care regards mossies and other insects.Check the dates on beers too as some of them might have been on the shelf throughout the rains.Other then that have a good time mate.

In October things are pretty quiet everywhere, I think Calangute would be a better bet, bars / restaurants are more likely to be open and, in october should be able to fin a quiet place on the beach, they'll still be building many of the beach shacks which is interesting to watch, although some have stayed open all year.
