Goa in monsoon season - I should have checked the dates before quitting my job!!!

Hi,

I've been to Goa before in high season but never before in monsoon time. I've quit my job to finish some IT qualifications and it's much cheaper in Goa than the UK. Problem is its monsoon season.. I really should have checked first!

What's it like there at that time? Is it fun at all or is it too queit and wet..

If possible I'd like to do some diving as I'm an instructor but I know the bad weather will effect it alot.. Does anyone know if the dive schools even run dives at that time of the year??

Anyone with experience or advice about Goa at monsoon time, please pass on your wisdom!

Cheers,

Guy

You can't go into the sea during monsoon. It's too dangerous. The water is a muddy colour anyway. Some places are open all year.

Ive been there in Monsoon, very wet, rains a lot, and lots of power cuts , so spent a lot of time sitting in a dark room listening to the rain and thunder, wondering why the hell I was there.

Have you thought about travelling to North India, lots of places up there that wont be affected by the monsoon, and probly cheaper!!

Thanks for the replies, sadly goa, shimla and delhi are the only places I can do my course and I'v eread shimla isn't loads of fun in Monsoon season either.

when it's not raining does the sun come out?? how much of the time does it rain, all day every day, or just a few hours in the day?

Though I haven't been in Goa in the monsoon in many years, it doesn't rain all day. You'll have day's with some sun trying to breakthrough. I heard many, many years ago it rained all the time but not so now. There should be a few travelers sitting out the monsoon there. I know not all restaurants close in Palolem.

There was extreme humidity when I was there during the monsoon though.

About diving.......NO WAY!

Thanks for that. I guessed that would be the case for the diving. still you can't win them all.

Sounds like it won't be too bad there at that time. Thanks for the advise.

Dude, you can do those courses anywhere in India. What makes you think it is limited to these 3?

I looked on google and couldn't see any others than Koenig Solutions that appeared to be big. If I'm flyingout and paying a few thousand dollars I wanted one of the big ones.

can you reconmend any other good training schools. I need to do all of those exams in just over a month!!

cheers

Dude.... this is the country of IT .... you can do these courses anywhere you feel like ..... check out NIIT, Aptech they are spread all across the country ...... i think with NIIT, you could start your course anywhere and continue it at any center they have so you could be travelling and studying at same time ..... you have to ask them specifically about this ... and they would probably only allow you to do the transfer once or twice ...

NIIT is big here in India, in fact the biggest when it comes to IT training. Aptech is big too. I have never heard of Koenig Solutions but then again I am not into the admin part of IT.

I have been several times to Goa in the monsoon. Twice it was great and once it was truly dreary..
