Calangute will be fine. Very few tourists at that time of the year.

I know at the end of May when I was last in the Palolem area there were lot's of Indian tourists in Palolem and quite a few foreigners also. Alot of huts and restaurants will be closed then but there should still be people about in June. I know some travelers like to stay the monsoon in Palolem. If you go the Dropadi Restaurant is open all year and has some of the best food in Palolem. Also find the Alpha Bar for a drink. It was the first place in Palolem.

You could also go to Benaulim or Colva which both have resorts that should be a bargain in June. But I would choose Palolem as it's the prettiest beach in Goa.

Did not find this bar when I first visited Palolem in 1989. Are you sure this was the first bar?

That's what I was told by my friend who was first in Goa in 1966. He said it was the only place when he first visited Palolem. Not sure what year that was though.

It's not on the beach. It's hidden back from the beach and it's difficult to find. It's by the south side of town and you have to walk a sand path between peoples houses to find it as it's not on the road. It's a nice secluded place to chill out among the tropical vegetation.

We've just arrived in Palolem

Everyone here seems convinced that the monsoon will hit in 2 days time. Chatting to people who've been here a while, there's more and more places closing each day. There will be a few places open though in June and the beach is in great shape. I've heard that some of the places in central goa are packed with Indian tourists leaving dirty nappies on the sand and are being hit by the pollution issue.

Palolem is nice for now though.
