sorry to leave you hanging ...thought someone might have some more ideas...you don't really have to go so far from home to find a good beach in June -- but if you do want to get further afield, SE Asia mighty be a better bet than Goa as some parts, like most of Indonesia, have pretty good weather in June. I guess you are already set, and ticketed, for India so I'm not being much help.
heres a picture from Boracay in the Phillipines -- is this the sort of place you're looking for?

Don't worry, i'm not just going to india for the beaches, i realise that they are just the smallest part of the most incredible country. Some misguided fool had told me goa was perfectly doable in june but now i realise they were wrong!!! I can fnd a beach anytime and do intend on the phillipines in the next few years plus south east asia. What i want from india is an experince i'll never forget, i can't wait!!! I want to see the people i want to see the culture, i want to see the 'real' india (i have actually heard people say that goa is not the real india). I want to take everything the country can offer me in one month and then go back as soon as possible!!!! Thanks for the tips anyway! The flights are all booked and i'm buzzing!!!
that's good to hear, I think you could safely strike Goa off tour list for must-see's in June. The north might be more to your liking -- suggest you look around some of the recent threads of people planning summer trips and see what catches your eye. You still have a couple of weeks to get some ideas and ask questions -- BTW where do you land?
Was in Goa (baga ) last monsoons and thoroughly enjoyed my time there .
Goa in monsoons is so different from the normal season . Lot less crowded , cheap hotel rates . Agreed ...you dont have the sunshine to play around in the beach ....but if you looking to just chill out ..i'd definately recommend it .

Try getting away from the beach!
I’m not speaking from experience here as I’ve never been in Goa during June.
If its beach time your looking for then probably no Goa won’t provide. However if your just looking for someplace to have a break, perhaps get into the local culture, then Goa might well be for you.
There is a lot more to Goa than just the beaches, get down to south Goa, sparsely populated you could spend days exploring the hills and villages.
My forays into the surrounding country side in a 40 km radius of Palolem have convinced me that a trip into the rain forests of south Goa during monsoon must be heaven, orchids, tropical fruit trees, and waterfalls ancient temples, couple this with the sleepy village life of an off season Goa and you’ve got a lovely place to chill out.
If you need a bit of culture try old Goa or indeed hop on a local passenger train and speng some time in Gokarne, Karnataka (just a couple of hours!)
Remember it doesn’t rain all the time during a Goa monsoon so there’s plenty opportunities to get on your bicycle (I’m being sensitive here MT) and go see some unspoilt western Ghat scenery. I wish I was coming with you!!!!
Check out the pic to see what I'm talking about!!
