hi oytun,
I am a regular visitor to Goa, but only in the regular high season, between november and march, when the weather is perfect. July is the height of monsoon and the only month that my guest-house hosts say is a total write-off. I don't think the beaches swimmable until september and most beach shacks won't open until November, but september and october will have lots of nice weather and not too many people around. |

if you go in monsoon, wear your anto-coconut helmet- they come down!

I was in Goa last month (June) and there was a howling gail non-stop. The wind was so strong it was hard to stand on the headlands.
The rain itself wasn't too bad, occasional squalls and a couple of big dumps, but the wind and high seas were the killer. Forget about swimming or sitting on the beach - it was hard enough to light a cigarette in an Anjuna cafe, even with it's monsoon ready plastic walls! At least the off-season rates at the GH's were really good. I've put some pics in the gallery to prove it... http://www.indiamike.com/photopost/s...cat=500&page=1 |

Hi skell,
Thanks for letting me know about the link to my site - I'd accidentally put an s after the http. I've fixed it up now. I'm a bit new on the net, as you can tell, but the site should give you an idea. I'll let you know the name and address of the stores in delhi soon. i assume from your post that you've the sense to avoid goa in the monsoon. it is a bit of a ghost town, and not always that easy to find a restaurant open for lunch! The plus side was I got to meet lots of Indian travellers and locals who are more open when the place isn't over run by firangs! |
