Goa in December

Hi, we are hoping to go to Goa by train from Dehli in December this year and are looking for recommendations for hotel/accomodation, we love local culture but would also like a nice swimming beach to relax on, also some good markets and cultural visits - we dont want much. Any help?

please let the IMers know your price range/limit for them to recommend you some place to stay, and whether you want to stay close to the beach or towns.

The tariffs more than double in hotels in oa during december mid to jan first week.

you can see the link attached for approximate prices of all hotels in Goa [this link is from Goa Tourisms website (Govt undertaking)] -

Talking december in Goa

i hv been in Goa several times towards the new year. it is simply fantastic.
a good place to stay would be in the Baga beach area, which translates into abt 1 hrs drive to Panjim, the capital.
the prices at this time however are at the highest. since Baga is in north Goa it is one of the most happening places to be in. lots of tourists, indian and foreign, along with locals sprinkled around. the guest houses are hygienic, decent and comfortable.
If u want a higher end holiday there are tons of 5*+ hotels, the best being situated in south Goa.
u can email me for more details dependg on budgets, days etc
u must fit this into yr itinerary........ it is fantastic (i hv done 10 trips in the last 20 years)
cheers

Make sure u get the fast train from dehli, the rajdanhi rather than any other. It took us 46 hours to get to goa from dehli on the way down (should have been 41 hours) then we found out there was a fast train which took only 26 hours.

train v/s plane

now with the new carriers there is intense competition, so that most plane fares are comparable to those of ac train, look them up, or ask ...... a 2 hr ride def beats over 26 hrs by train
