Goa: Hotels

Finally, off to a holiday in 3rd week Jan to Goa Can anyone pl advise some nice hotel(3 star or alike)in north Goa(assume that's where the action is) if there are some links to the property that would be helpful too. Should be closer to the beach & shacks, (dont want to walk back all the way) Anyone any suggestions.

Secondly,Goaair is offering a fantastic fare on to Goa, when i called them the automated response asked me to send an SMS to them saying they will revert back in 24 hrs, So far no reply Does it really work??
Anyone?

There is no formal star rating system for the hotels in Goa. There are some hotels which charge Rs 1200/night and call themselves as "3 star resorts" and there are some which charge Rs 3500/night and also call themselves as "3 star resorts".

It is better to specify what your daily budget is and go from there.

Casa De Goa is a beautiful hotel but too steep: 3300/night. I would prefer something about 800-1000/night in the season, so am afraid this wont do for me. Thanks anyway.

Colva beach is in South Goa not North Goa. Indeguru is looking for a place in the north.

Accommodation in the price range that you want falls in the non-starred category. In this price range you won't have acess to a swimming pool.

The first two hotels are in Baga while the third one is in Vagator. Calypso is the best of the lot.

Surf the net, search in Google and you will find many links to hotels in North Goa. Most of the tour operators are India based. You may also phone the hotel directly and negotiate a price. But in the peak season it may be difficult.

Rate offered by Ronil appears to be rather high. But it depends on what they are offering and what is included. Compare prices with other hotels. Last year my wife and I secured a very decent double room without pre-booking. We took a chance and never regreted it. It was early February. Happy hunting!
