Goa hotels new year
Hi,
We are going to be in Goa for 4 nights end of December and beginning of January, the idea being to spend New Year s eve there and some more time relaxing, bar hopping, sight seeing, etc. There s going to be 12 of us !!! yep, twelve. Some friends originally from Goa have recommended Palolem to me. Now the thing is, we d like to book soon, just to be sure that we re going to have a room when we get there. We’d love beach huts (as long as they re safe / secure) or regular hotels close to the beach… The place HAS to be clean, and not too ‘dingy’. Our budget is about 3000 INR per room (that s 1500 INR per person) per night… The problem is that the places I contacted (chattai, cirans, café del mar, bhakti kutir) are either booking for a minimum of 7 nights in that period, or not yet open for reservations at all… Can anyone possibly recommend a place I could contact right away? I read on the forums that Agonda and Patnem are recommended too and not toooo far away. Would really appreciate it if you could give me some info / hotel names on these beaches too. Also, at Palolem, I heard of this place called Cosy Nook…cant find any details yet though… Thanks so much. Feel free to mail : asathi at yahoo dot fr. Regards |

You mentioned that bar hopping is something you want to indulge in. Well, that is not going to happen because Palolem does not have a single nightclub and there is not much in the way of nightlife in the adjoining beaches unless by "nightlife" you mean getting drunk at a beach shack! You will be better off staying in Anjuna, Vagator, Siolim or one of the northern beaches. |

I would suggest booking a 3-5 bedroom apartment or a private bungalow or guest house a little away from the beach in that budget.
1500x 12 is 18000. That is a good budget for a bungalow and if you are not couples that need to monkey business at night then booking a bungalow and crashing in 4 guys in a room is much better and more fun especially at night where all 12 of your are under on roof(these bungalows have huge halls). Or else 12 guys in one room(normal rooms or huts) is going to be crowded. I am sorry but I cannot recomend you bungalows as I myself dont know where to get one. But many of my friends have managed one with the help of local friends. Your local friends can help with that. |

I just wanted to add that I am no expert on Goa. I am speaking from a logical point of view when it comes to 12 people travelling together.
If you like the idea then post it I am sure others like Goacanuck will help you out. If your idea of fun is spending time with your friends and getting sloshed together then getting a bungalow/house is much better. I suggest if you like a place/bungalow then check out what is the total rent for 7 days(or their minimum booking period) if it works out cheaper than 18000 x 4 i.e. 72000 then go for it. You might miss out on good places that may be within your budget if you consider paying an extra days rent is a waste. I think the standard required period is 5 days in many places around that period. So wether you like it or not you will have to shell out and extra days rent. Ok i remember a place that is good enough for 12 guys and is cheap too. The place is not dingy it is not spotless clean but they provide you with clean betsheets and the bathroom is clean. The rooms are 350 rupees per room(twin sharing). I think in december it will be not more than 1200 rupees per room. It is walking distance from the beach. It is Sams Cottage in Colva. I have to warn this place is too hot for any other season but I am sure it is going to be perfect for december. The place has only 1 AC room. I am sure the reservations are open right now. The place has a good party hall and they prepare food too.(never tried the food though). I just have the mobile number 9822136190. I hope it works if it doesnt give me a buzz and I can get the landline number from my friend in goa. |
