Well, depends on how long and where you are staying in goa. No, a A/C is not required for cooling comfort, but to filter out the dust, dirt and make breathing air more comfortable after a day of trekking is a treat.

Panjim .If you leave Calangute on the bus at about 2 pm you can then have lunch in Panjim and walk round as its not so hot by that time of the day. There are lots of restaurants in Panjim but i like Gordinhos , its a short walk from the ferry.Great food and really cheap.

Try to get to Ashuvm,Arambol beach .After Arambol if you keep driving its just beautiful out that way.

I never really go to Mapsa, only for petrol as i dont see anything i like there as its far better in Panjim.

There are so many nice places to go, i know how to get there on me scooter but forget what they are called !

Rent a motorbike or scooter and ride the coast of Goa. I did this from Calangute, got lost in Old Goa and eventually made it to Palolem.

Oh burf you sound posh ! I usually go my on scooter and park at Betim and walk on the ferry thats free to Panjim. You have the police on that main bridge on the way to Panjim. Be really careful where you park in Panjim cause the tow trucks are picking up vehicles all the time in Panjim even if they are parked legally .
From candolium you can take the scenic route into Betim. Betim takes you to Panjim as well by road.If you take the turning off to Coco beach and just follow the road ,you are on the coast road, its really beautiful.
Oh just before the turning to Coco beach there is a bridge ,i think its called Neru bridge, there is a restaurant called Amigos , you can have a steak meal for 80rs and sit watching the river go by . We all went on a boat ride for a hour from Amigos and see all the huge houses that you would never see from the road. One house has a dolls house in the garden the same design as the house ! Money round that way for sure .

When you get off the Panjim bridge its right turn for Panjim but if you turn left its the way to Margo ,Colva and palolem
