Goa Decision Help
Hi People,
Me and me girlfriend are arriving in Mumbai on the 5th Feb at about 11.30am. We've been unable to book any of our desired hotels and we're now thinking about booking a domestic flight straight onto Goa. We've seen a £25 flight with Air Deccan leaving at around 3.30 on the same day. My only worry is getting to Vagator from the main airport in Goa, will this sort of thing be difficult without booking in advance? It looks about 30-40km, would a train, taxi or bus be the best option? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as you can see from our arrival date we're kind of in hurry! Thanks Matt |

I would opt for the taxi but really check the prices someone on the site may be able to help with that but bargain hard and dont accept their first offers...act confident and as though you know what the prices are

Go to CST train station, put your luggage in the cloak room, then have a relaxing afternoon in Mumbai, a nice walk in the evening, then get the overnight train, you'd be amazed how little time you lose.
Even if you fly, what time will you get to Vagator?

Train 0111 departs Mumbai CST daily at 23:00 and gets to Thivim at 09:26.
2-tier air con = Rs 1431 (AVAILABLE- 0014) 3-tier air con = Rs 1096 (AVAILABLE- 0036) Sleeper class (not air con) = Rs 443 (AVAILABLE- 0014) Above is the fares and availability for the 5th using the Tatkal Quota. A pre-paid taxi from Thivim should cost about Rs300 and take about 30 minutes. |

train ticket
The main reason we're contemplating booking a flight is because we warned told the trains fill up extremely fast in India. We've heard you can book a train ticket from abroad but my girlfriend has found this difficult so far - I will look into this further though.
