GOA - Dabolim to Anjuna???
Namaste!
Are there any reasonable alternatives to taking a Taxi from the airport in Goa to Anjuna? Breaking things down: Dabolim to Panjim? Panjim to Mapusa? Mapusa to Anjuna? Is there at least a single bus from Panjim to Anjuna? Or a bus stop near the airport to catch a bus to Mapusa? And if the Taxi i$ the way to go, how much should it cost for 2 people? ANY HELP/ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!! Chris Last edited by machadinha : Jan 16th, 2008 at 04:40. Reason: merged threads |

GOA - Anjuna Hotel Info?
Namaste!
Anyone have recent first hand experience with a hotel in Anjuna that they'd care to share? Good or bad? Name of hotel, address and price paid (single or double)? Many thanks and happy Trails, Chris |

Hitch Hiking in South India?
Is it done? Does it work? Is it safe?
(Clearly I'm *desperate* to find a better way to get from the damn airport in Goa to Anjuna without $pending for a Taxi!) Just a thought;-) Namaste! PS I imagine the sight of a middle-aged (ouch) middle-class (just shoot me!) American couple with luggage standing by the side of the road should at least attract *some* attention?;-) |

Hi
I've spent a bit of time (7 months) hanging out in Goa as a budget traveller, and to be honest the taxi is by far your best bet. It'll almost certainly cost less than 20$USD, maybe someone else knows the latest pre-paid airport taxi prices in Goa? There is no other real alternative that you should consider after getting off a plane. I hitchhike in england sometimes, but think that you will find it impossible in goa to get from the airport to anjuna. It might be possible to hitch south from goa along the main highways, but would not advise you to try hitching in india unless you've spent some time there, and speak good hindi at least. Still, don't let me spoil your adventure if you're up for a mad mad time with india's truckers and wide boys. just get the taxi dude ![]() check out the hotels bit of the forum for reviews |

Just get the cheap prepaid taxi dude
Sounds like you also want a bargain hotel, so you should make this clear in your question. ![]() |

No, it is not done, and no, it is not safe.
A recent rape victim accepted a lift from someone she had met at a program. She had had time to talk to this man, and make some assessment of him, which, sadly, must have wrong. I regularly see local people asking at traffic signals, and accepting a lift on the back of a bike --- but giving lifts is not safe. My wife tells me that it is far from unknown for a lift giver to find a knife at his throat, and be left at the side of the road with no money and no bike.

You may take a cab to Vasco and then take bus, but very cumbersome so take a pre-paid taxi from the airport. Can't tell you about the fare, I took a cab to Candolim it costed me Rs.650/-

As far as I know( and I have traveled by bus from Panaji to Mapusa and then onto Anjuna) there are no direct buses from Panaji/Dabolim to Anjuna). During off-peak hours, with just a small backpack along, I found the bus trip pleasant enough. The taxi fare from Dabolim Airport to Anjuna is Rs.750. The pre-paid taxi counter within the terminal charges more so book the taxi from the booking centre located outside.(its on the right side as you walk out of the building). |

You have to walk to the left when you exit the terminal, after that the taxi counter will be on your right, big yellow sign outside with fares to all over Goa.

pre-paid tax to Arambol 30 minutes north 980 rupees..
so expect to pay around 750 rupees. not much really to save a lot of hassle. And if you are middle age/middle class Americans then really that is not a lot of money even with a devalued dollar. |

Have you ever been to India? Goa airport is tame to others around the country but lets just say you will be getting a taxi. 750 Rupees to Anjuna is fair and i can recommend Palacate Rodrigues for a place to stay about 1000 rupees a night. It's a bit far from the beach but theres a good pub "Nelsons" just around the corner.

Im in Anjuna right now. This year i pay 250 night for a 2 bed room House with Kitchen and toilet.
My friends are paying between 200-500rps a night in their guetshouses. So i think 1000rps a night is a rip off. |
