events in March

Hello
I'm traveling to Goa at 18'th of March. Is there some special events from 18'th of March to 2'nd of April? Like the Carnival you talk about, or similar in the North Goa?
Thank you in advance

Carnival will be over by the time you reach Goa. No other special events other than of course Holi.

Hi everybody! My first post

I`m going to be in Goa at the same time as the carnival is. I´ve tried to find some information about the festivities and events during the carnival in the web but i could´n find any proper ( that was few weeks ago). Now, when i noticed that here is thread about that I take the opportunity to ask you...
What kind of festivities there are? Somewhere i read that there will be theater and dancing etc..

I´ve been reading the forum as I´m going to Goa soon. Indiamike has been excellent, very useful and the most helpful

Question

I'll be thru Goa on the 19th and 20th of Feb for the last couple days of Carnival and was wondering which direction to head from the airport (north or south) for the best parties / beach scene.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

The main events of the Carnival were held in Panjim on the 17th and Margao on the 18th.
This year's carnival has been marred by controversy due to the invention of local politicians, because state elections are due in Goa soon. To get on with the events, Goa tourism annaounced hefty cash prizes to the various categories of paegents!

Thanks Indizen. I had read in the newspapers online of the polltical maneuvering regarding the festival. As I arrive early tomorrow morning, is there any town or area you might recommend heading to. I've got no hotel reservations, so I'm pretty much up for anything and if it has something to do with the Carnival, it would be nice too.
Thanks.

For 19th and 20th Goa Tourism has scheduled events in Mapusa and Vasco, so please check their website.
There might be local parades in places like Calangute as well, so check the local dailies like Herald and Navhind Times.
