Goa car rental and general information

Hi everybody. I’m going to Goa in March 2005 and I would like a bit more information about renting a car.
Does anybody have any experiences on that subject and do you know where I can get a 4x4 at a reasonable rate, documents required, etc…

I'll have a stab, as far as I know you can rent old 4x4 jeeps but this is not widespread and because of this competition will be fierce.
I don't know anyone who has done this personally but I see the odd tourist driving a hired jeep in Goa but they really are few and far between and don't expect any big hire companies with a fleet of jeeps as far as I can tell it's usually a hotel or restaurant with one vehicle for hire. The ones I saw didn't look too special either!!
Hiring a car is much the same story!

I only asked the question as my missus will not allow us to travel around Goa as usual on a kinetic with our new bundle of joy.

I personally cant see anything wrong with the child stood up Indian style on floor pan of the bike but The Boss says NO.

we are going to goa on the 25th of february.

we are staying in Dona Paula in the first week to see the sites in the North, and after that we are hoping to find a nice beach hut in Palolem and stay there for another week.

does anybody know a good place to eat in palolem. any recomendation on the beach huts. which ones should we avoid?

and sorry for insisting but does anybody have any info about car rental in Goa??
