Goa between Christmas and New Year?

Hello,

I am presently in Bangalore and want to spend 5 days in Goa just after Christmas (ie 26th). I will return to Bangalore for New Year's eve. My partner and I want to enjoy a slower paced, chilled but hip beach atmosphere and have heard that Palolem is a good bet. Partying is not a priority for either of us.

I suspect it will be heaving at this time of the year – so I would be grateful for any information.

We are planning to go mid-range in terms of accommodation. Can anyone tell me:

1) if Palolem sounds right for us? (recommendations on accommodation?)
2) where else might be good? (recommendations on accommodation?)
3) if I should book in advance (any details would be appreciated)?
