So after like a million problems me and my buddy are finally going to be in goa for New Years 2003. We were supposed to stay at another one of my friends houses and now it turns out we can only stay there for half our vacation.
1. Do you think we'll still be able to find a decent place to stay from 1/1 - 1/4 that wont be ridiculously expensive? 2. How do you find out where the New Years Parties are going to be? 3. This is the second time I'm going to Goa. The last time I went with one of my buddies who was completely clueless (same guy with the house in goa) and we never found a white sand aqua blue beach. Are there any? 4. What's a decent rate for renting mopeds, & bikes? Any must see/do things you guys can think of? |

I'll give your questions a try:
1. no -- think about it, who will be checking out on New Year's Day? with luck and some looking, you will find a place to sleep ok, don't expect anything special. 2. Look around Anjuna for posters plastered around everywhere a day or 2 before NY's eve. 3. There aren't any. Goan beaches are 'golden sands' and the water, while bluish, is not particularly clear due to turbulance and the silt from the various rivers debouching in the sea. Any photo's you have seen of white white sand and aqua clear waters are retouched. Not to say Goan beaches aren't nice -- they are, and the sunsets are pretty spectacular. 4. around 125/150 for a scooter or 100cc bike, more for a Bullet. Harder to find and more expensive around the holidays. hope this helps ![]() mike |

If you want a nice laid back traveler scene- (not the kind where everyone sits on the beach trying to look cooler than the next guy) then head down south to Benaulim or even Paolim. If you're in Benaulim try Furtados beach hotel for I imagine 500 ? in high season. (probably booked out) If you are into the raving drug scene then check out Vagator to the north of Ajuna (about a 10 minute rik ride) their are two beaches big vagator and little vagator beach. Just follow the backbacker trail through the bushes and follow the pot smoke with your nose and your there! In the evenings they have an open air goa trance club on the cliff overlooking the beach. May be a nice place to spend new years.
cheers! |
