hep e help
hey all, i've posted this on the thorntree with no luck so thought i'd try here.. help please!
my sister has just been diagnosed with pretty serious Hep E and is in hospital for a week or so in Mumbai. There is an outbreak of the disease in the water supply at the moment, especially in South Mumbai (Colaba) so please watch out - no ice in your lassis! we are planning to head down to Goa in a few weeks for her to have a month recovery on the beach, some where chilled. My main concern is that she needs to eat plain non-spicy, non fatty, very un fussy food. most western food available is usually hamburgers or other fried delights.. so im worried ill have trouble getting good food for her 3 times a day - for a month. it would be ideal if i could find a place that had a kitchen. we are extreme budget backpackers and were looking for basicly just a shack on the beach.. but since we're staying for a while could maybe look at renting a house for a month? does anyone have any ideas for how we could get a kitchen. for cheap?! we were thinking of Palolem beach, but having never been to Goa im open to any suggestions. we just want somewhere quiet. cheers for any info michaela |

I have a number for a guy who we rented a very nice 2 bed apartment from about this time last year. Very cheap about 400-700 rupees a day (private residence with guards and swimming pool). I will try and find the number and pm u. |

When I was in Goa many years ago, we rented a house (just behind Tito's at Baga Beach); it had a kitchen with a nice dung floor -- but no stoves or running water. We went to the market and bought a couple of kerosene (paraffin) stoves very cheaply, and a couple of cooking pots and some plates, etc. |

Hi
I am currently living in a house in Vagator, really nice, with kitchen etc. I am probably moving out in the next week, as i can't afford it by myself, but maybe you'd be interested. I'd also be interested in sharing if we got along. Anyway, rent is 8000rp per month. There are plenty of places available for this kind of money, i could put you in touch with a few, no problem. If you are interested, then best to phone me, +91 9822151695 Matt |

Quiter the beach, lesser the facilities
Dunno if I'm wrong, but my impression is that quieter the beach, lesser the facilities and options. This holds for Palolem.
Your options might be better in Benaulim (as someone else suggested), or even in the north Goa tourism belt (the ABC villages, Anjuna, Baga, Calangute-Candolim). But that's overbuild and perhaps you might not prefer such a place!
