Thanks Steve.
My flight doesn't get in until 17.15 and I'm trying to get to Gokarna without an overnight stop.
I'm guessing it will be around 1500 by taxi as Palolem was quoted at about 1000.

Happy hunting, i doubt if you can get a Taxi to Gokarna for 1500, but good luck, the Taxis outside are cheaper.
Bargain hard.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum but it seemed a good place to ask.
The prepaid taxis will not take you to any destination outside Goa. The tourist taxis otside the airport will however take you. Gokarna is located in Karnataka which is a neighbouring state. A taxi to Gokarna will cost you not less than Rs 3000 because the driver will have to come back empty after dropping you and he also has to pay the interstate tax when he crosses the Goa- Karnataka border.

Thanks for your replies. A friend has given me the number of a Gokarna taxi driver who makes the journey almost daily to the airport, says he paid 1400 in February.
I will let you know how I get on nearer the time, but 3000 may be beyond my budget.

Going off topic here but
Where would be a good place to spend the night and get onward bus or train connection in the morning?

Dianetorre - Last year I got a sleeper bus from Hampi to Gokarna so I guess they go in the opposite direction as well. Paolo Travels was the company if I remember correctly.

Question Goa Airport - Prepaid Taxis available?

Hello,

A couple of quick questions for the Goa experts…

1. Are there prepaid taxis available from Goa Airport to the Old Goa Town? What would be the right fare for this distance?
(PS: Is there a prepaid taxi counter inside the arrival terminal?)

2. Where can find a taxi to travel from Old Goa town to Colva Beach? How much should i pay for this journey?

Thanks in advance…

There is a pre paid counter inside the airport just before the exit door.
There is also a counter to get a local sim card also near the door.

The rates are at the counter .

True but that is not the government pre-paid counter. That one is across the road when you leave the arrival hall on your left. Also has the rates displayed.

Hmmm is that one cheaper than the one near the airport arrivals exit door?
