Goa accomodation end of November

Hi
I plan to go to Goa for one week at the end of November. Where would you recommend for a single woman on her own?
I would rather stay mid range than budget and would like a swimming pool so that I can feel safe sunbathing and then explore after.
Should I book in advance or will I find somewhere by turning up. I know it is reaching the busy season.
Or would you suggest Kerala instead?
Many thanks

Thanks

PS Thinking of everyone in Delhi at the moment affected by the horrible bombing.

Peace and quiet not party party

Hi

I would like somewhere more peaceful and quiet rather than a party place. I shall be taking a brief break from teaching at a school in Jodhpur so just want to recharge the batteries, read some books and sunbathe for a week.

Would that mean best to go north or south?

Thanks for letting me know it will be OK to just turn up too.

Blue skies

Hi Blueskigirl

I would recommend Baga in the north as you are in a quiet area but a short taxi ride from clangute and candolim where ther is more life if you change your mind.
I can recomend the Clonial Santa Maria (CSM) in Baga there rooms are basic (Bedroom lounge onsuit and balcony)like all Goa hotels but clean and the staff are very helpfull, in fact we are there the last two weeks of november for the second time this year.
Also there is a meet up for members of www.holidaytruths.co.uk every wendesday at cafe Lazydays opposite the CSM where you have the oppertunity to meet other holiday makers and find out best places to go. Worth cheaking out if you click India hotels it will give you reports on most of the hotels in Goa from people who have stayed in them, also they have a Goa forum.
There are plenty of other hotels in Baga and you shoul have no problem finding a room.
Have a great holiday wherever you choose.

Baga beach and quiet????? Are you serious? Calangute and Baga are the most crowded and congested beaches in Goa and most definitely not quiet.

Blueskiesgirl, I would recommend Benaulim. It is not only a beautiful beach but it is very good for swimming and there are not too many shacks or tourists.

Baga beach is a very quiet beach, not as quiet as the south I agree but CSM where we stayed was 2 minutes from the beach and very quiet the beach had plenty of free sun beds and the pool always had space, for me that's quiet.
