The agitation has been called off/postponed (not sure which) according to TV reports.

There has been almost nothing in the newspapers about this, anyway, for the last day or two.

That's true, Goa govt. has asked the central govt. to cancel all SEZ's in the state. But that is not the end of the story. Cipla who has already invested around Rs. 200 crore would be fighting till the end either to complete the SEZ or to get compensation from the govt.

Agree with Fizzy 2 " leave Goa by Dec27"

Fizzy 2, I agree with your posting. I almost wish that no more tourists could go to Goa ( after I get there of course and can't fly back) as that seems to be what is driving all the building work. I have been visiting for past 10 years and have seen the destruction in places. Good infrastructure should be Govt priority for the locals not allowing yet more appts to be built which put a strain on water resources etc.

News...

The Central government has refused to de-notify at least 3 SEZ's, which means that at least these 3 are still 'on'.

Irony may pass by you. I think you read this from your class background rather than from my text. My deep regrets that you can't get servants, etc. in London.

Have you spoken to the UK government about making your house into a SEZ?

Oh, do we have the classic class struggle here? Fact is though, that India itself and itīs governments have kept Indians poor for decades. The awakening is steadily going on with open end.
