Gifts for Goan family
We are visiting some relatives of friends in the UK. They live in Goa and are 'influential' people. What kind of suggestions does anyone have as to what would be a good gift/gifts to take. Any thoughts at all?

Are you just visiting them or staying as their guests? If so, for how long? The appropriate gift would depend on how much these people may have to do for you. If you just visiting them for a few hours, a few souviners/box of chocolates will do. If you are staying with them then it would be appropriate to up the gifts.

Goancanucks suggested gifts will be well appreciated by even the most affluent in India. But, IMHO, I think its excessive unless they are putting you up a guest for atleast a few days.

Cancel the Johnny Walker blue label and make it Black label -and save at least $120!
Electronic nick-nacks also go down well as does anything "designer" Names darling, names - as an English sitcom once said. I usually take Black label for men and Chanel no5 for women.Even if the man doesn't drink and the lady prefers more traditional scents they'll have great fun showing them off!! |

We were just in Goa for Christmas and took a bunch of things for our friends...A fossil watch and formula 1 soverniers seem to be the most popular for one of them.....Plus, we brought them all ingraved Xmas stockings, they liked them so much they were crying.
Also really liked the Canadian Whiskey gift set, said they will never open it!! Also brought the little boy GAP shirts and they loved that as well.. Turtles and baileys chocolates were a hit too. Anyhow, we really went overboard and brought a whole huge bag of gifts, they didn't even know what to do... But it had to have been the most fun Xmas/New Years we had ever had, maybe i will post my pic's...if anyone wants to see them. http://travel.webshots.com/album/557530051zmoQPO ![]() |
