Cool Getting to Goa & accommodation

My girlfriend and I are planning to go from Mumbai to Goa around 20 Novand staying there until 9 Dec.

Can anyone help with some info on how to get there? I've found info on
the web about Konkan Railway http://www.konkanrailway.com/website/ehtm/in_index.htm.

Can anyone say a few words about the journey?

There's also an online booking form but it has lots of strict looking terms and conditions.
Has anyone used this to book online?

I've looked at the hotel pages posted here but didn't find many with internet access. Does anyone know of hotels in/near Anjuna, Arambol, Calangute that
have this?

Last question for the moment. Are there internet cafes?

Cheers

in the lane immed outside VT Station are travel agent booths that will sell you ticket on sleeper bus to Mapusa (north Goa). They will ask 600-700 rupees - real price is 400. The train sleeper is only 300. This was case a couple of years ago anyhow.

The bus leaves 2pm and 4pm from Fashion St (part of MG Road) about Ikm away. From Mapusa you can get local bus to Anjuna, Calangute, Chapora, Arambol etc

Post 10 on the Train Information thread has details of trains between Mumbai & Goa.

A day train is a good idea as it is a very scenic journey.

There are plenty of Internet cafe's in Goa, though some are a bit slow.

I can't help with a hotel recommendation though; I stayed in Madgaon and Panjim.

Thumbs up Getting to Goa & accommodation

This is great, thanks to all of you for your replies.

I think we'll take a train as it looks like it will turn out a bit more comfortable. We were thinking about the overnight train but like the idea of enjoying the scenery.

Also thanks for info on accommodation too, I'll do some more searching on the web for that.

Getting to Goa & accommodation

Kashayp, thanks for the info. I've now managed to arrange to stay in an apartment in Anjuna with some friends of my girlfriend. Looks like we're going to get that for free but if it turns out we do need something else your info will come in handy.

Cheers
