| Getting to Dabolim early morning Ok so the flights are booked, we leave Goa on 23/11/09 at 8.05, Assuming I need to be there 2 hours in advance for bags and checking in etc, will getting from Agonda - Dabolim at 6am be feasible? Would anyone reccomend staying nearby (as mentioned in other threads) as an alternative, its just well, 6am isnt that early, its not the middle of the night really....? |

Before we get the current trend of certain posters telling you that all will be fine, lets have a few realities........... The Goan tourist taxi driver (as opposed to the "proper" black & yellow ones), is by nature, lazy. If he was not, and they are all "he's", he would have a proper job that did not involve doing nothing for most of the day, and charging exhorbitant un-metered fees when they do move. And yes this does include Panjim! Try walking down 18th June Road trying to avoid hordes of these wastrels touting for trade. Hours later on your return, there they all are, still in the same place! Many is the tale from returning tourists of the taxi driver who did not turn up early morning to take them to the airport. Of course many do, at a price, but that's no good if you are the unlucky one? Ways to try to avoid this? If possible deal with a taxi driver who is attached to an hotel or resort. Get his phone number and check that it is his! Get the number of an alternate.......tell him you may wish to call him but don't mention the airport run. Better still book a black and yellow, but still get his phone number. No need to be paranoid, you will probably be fine, but like everything here, it pays to take precautions............ Sorry realised didn't answer actual questions. Yes it is feasible. No it is not going to gain you much to stay nearer the airport. | |
